An interdisciplinary artist, Abbie is a writer, photographer and oral historian. Her work -- created for publication and exhibition -- explores individual and cultural identity, particularly subcultures operating in isolation, with self-selected members hidden from public view by volition or circumstance. Recently, she presented an excerpt from her nonfiction narrative manuscript to the Chicago Literary Club. In Fall 2010, Abbie spent four weeks at Vermont Studio Center for an Artist Residency in Photography. She was a Fellow at Columbia University's Oral History Research Office Summer Institute in 2008, "Oral History, Advocacy and the Law." Abbie's photographs have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows, and her traveling photography and multimedia exhibitions are available for booking at galleries, as well as educational and cultural venues. Abbie has traveled in about 40 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
