Traveling Exhibits

Abbie's traveling photography exhibit, "Faces of West Africa," and the traveling multimedia exhibit, "Untold Stories: Freeport's African-American History," can be booked and shown at galleries, educational venues and cultural institutions. "UNTOLD STORIES" EXHIBIT DESCRIPTION This oral history and photography project was unveiled as an outdoor public art exhibit, with six photographic panels measuring eight feet wide by four feet high installed across the street from Debate Square in Freeport, Ill., in conjunction with the Sesquicentennial Celebration of the Lincoln-Douglas debates. A traveling gallery exhibit with framed photographs, audio features, and a 13.5-minute DVD has been shown regionally, including a juried exhibit at Quad City Arts. To learn more about the multimedia traveling exhibit, see www.untoldstoriesproject.com. "FACES OF WEST AFRICA" EXHIBIT DESCRIPTION The traveling photographic exhibit, “Faces of West Africa,” opened in 2006. The 22 framed 12x16-inch prints have since been exhibited in dozens of juried solo and group shows. Abbie also gives artist talks for school groups and civic organizations, in which she tells stories of the people she met and the places she visited to increase understanding of – and appreciation for – West African culture.
